Help Us Build

THE NEED: Our current
preschool building was intended as a
temporary structure and has moved
beyond reasonable repair. During the
fall hurricane season, teachers
battle with water pouring through
the walls and ceiling, damaging
student work and negatively
affecting the learning environment.
The elementary classrooms are no
longer big enough to hold our
current class sizes. The average
elementary class size is now 20
students. Current classroom size
leaves little to no room for
teachers or students to pass between
desks. There are not enough
classrooms available to meet the
schedule demands of our middle
school and high school students.
Classes meet in non-classroom spaces
like the library or the cafeteria
because there are not enough
classrooms available.
|
THE PLAN: To raze the current
wooden preschool structure and
replace it with a two level concrete
building for 8 classrooms. This new
structure will provide larger
classrooms for our preschool and
elementary students. The new
structure will also free up space in
existing classrooms for our middle
and high school students. |
