MISSION: Possible
November 2, 2010
First, Second and Third grade students spent 3 days on and off campus learning to plant, build, and recycle. Teachers Rachel Quistad, Meredith Morton, and Leah Dodson, did a phenomenal job preparing biblical integration, interactive learning projects, and community service. As evidence to the grand effect of what they were learning two students of their own volition made a heartfelt announcement at morning assembly. From what they had been learning in their exploration of creation and the charge as Christ followers to care for it, these students implored their schoolmates to pick up trash on campus and off campus. Litter is a pervasive cultural problem and has serious ramifications for the DR. Change needs to happen. It is encouraging to see steps of change taking place among the students at Doulos. Connections are being made, new habits are being formed, and change is possible.
